When figures and sales go down severely, panic is the human natural response. Whether it’s the COVID-19 pandemic or a natural disaster, our fight or flight instincts kicks in and puts our thought process into a daze. This leads to short and snappy decisions that will not benifit our long term success when the crisis is over.

You always have to plan for the future and think beyond the now. That means planting seeds today that you can harvest later on in the year.

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.

Robert Louis Stevenson

Your main priorities should be:

1. If you can now, create sales and revenue.
2. Every business should be investing in sales and revenue for the future.

If you are one of the fortunate businesses that create revenue right now, then it is important to improve cash flow and keep the business open. At the same time businesses should be thinking past COVID-19 and think what will help their business the most?! It is marketing.

Lets dig deeper into the marketing tactics for the two priorities above.

Most businesses have been forced to alter the way they do things and change its products and delivery through the COVID-19 crisis.

Once you have created a new delivery service, update it to your website. We highly recommend using a pop-up to notify your customers as soon as they land on your website. This will instantly show to your customers that you are open and ready for new business during the pandemic. You can also say how your new products and delivery system works and operates in response to the crisis.

That is the fist step and every business should do.

The next step to take, depends on the business you are operating.

1. Email marketing

If you have an email list, now is the time you should start using it. The businesses that have an engaged email list have a huge advantage right now over companies that are not sending out emails. If email marketing was a ‘to do’ then this pandemic should be a kick start to do it.

2. Follow up

If you hold contact information for prospects and customers, then launch a follow-up campaign. We would start with customer that have already bought because they are more likely to buy from you again. Then move down the list to other prospective customers.

3. Social media

Social media is a must in the COVID-19 crisis. Let your customers know that you are open for business. Do a follow up, showcasing all your products and delivery services.

4. Advertising

If you have an online marketing budget for advertising, then you will probably get cheaper clicks right now because their is less competition.

Also, create an offer, helping your customers in their time of need. For examples Porn Hub’s offer below:

Not all businesses at the minute can create sales during the pandemic,  but they can put their energy into investing in its future. All the time that goes into your business now, will hold you in good stead for when your business is fully operational again.  Also, keep it in your mind that your competitors may not be doing anything at the minute, so this gives you a huge advantage later on.

Here are some tips that will help create sale post COVID-19:

1. Keep emailing your customers, engaging them with relevant content.

Email marketing is really important and now is not the time to stop. Keep your email list engaged so that your can reap the awards later.

2. Keep your social media going and engage people.

Similar to your email list, you want to post relevant, interests posts to keep the viewers engaged. So when the crisis is over, they know and remember you and are more likely to buy from you.

3. Invest into Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is a marketing method that is quite strenuous, however will pay dividends down the road. Because you and your team may have time on your hands, you can write content, which is crucial for SEO. Consider doing a ‘How To’ Page or writing article that your customers would enjoy and be beneficial to. Make your content appeal to prospective customers that would be searching via Goggle Search.

4. Reach out to other businesses to partner with

All businesses are struggling at the minute and looking for opportunities, so now is a great time to reach out to your dream partnership business.
